What You Can Expect
The diversity of Durban is represented in our community. Northplace is a mix of individual cultures and perspectives united in Christ and brought together to demonstrate God’s beautiful creation.
We gather for two services every Sunday, from 9am-10:30 and 11am-12:30 for a time of songs, teaching, and prayer. Expect to see lots of smiling faces and grab free coffee or tea from our hospitality table. There is secure parking available in the building basement, just past the main entrance on Equinox Road.
The atmosphere at Northplace is warm and family-friendly, with Kids Church available 15 minutes before each service on the right side of the building. Plan to arrive a few minutes early to check your children into their classrooms, and find a seat in the main hall on the left side of the building.

Our Story
Our lead pastors, Randy and Dezra Freeman, were missionaries in Eswatini before they moved to Durban in 2017. What started as a Bible study in their house became Northplace Church in February 2018.
The church first held services at the Sharks Board in Umhlanga and moved into Northplace Centre at 27 Meridian Drive in 2021. Our heart is for the city, and our vision is to be a convergence between the marketplace and the church community.
Today, Northplace Church is a group of people pursuing Christ together in meaningful relationships. From pensioners who have found a passion that drives their latter years to children learning about their purpose, which will shape the years to come, we want to demonstrate God’s glory to our city and our world.
Individual cultures and perspectives are acknowledged, but what we celebrate is the surrender of that individuality toward the common goal of being a church that reflects heaven. We find our true value and worth in Christ.
What We Believe

The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons : God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, and bodily resurrection, his ascension to the right hand of the Father, His personal future return to this earth in glory and power to rule a thousand years.

In the blessed hope – the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming.

The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.

Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

In water baptism by immersion.

The redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.

In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
